Logistics also has a woman's voice: Victòria Dot

Victòria Dot, along with Francesc Llorens, is the owner of Nordlogway, a family business specializing in integrated logistics services. With a solid business trajectory, Victòria stands out for her leadership skills and her contribution to the growth of the Osona region. In this micro-interview, we will take the opportunity to learn a little more about her vision as a female entrepreneur on International Women's Day.

  1. How did you decide to dedicate yourself to the logistics sector?

In the last year of my studies at ESADE, the fifth year of Business Administration and Master's in Business Management, I had the opportunity to participate in an international program in Paris at HEC (École des Hautes Etudes Commerciales), where I specialized in Small and Medium Enterprises and entrepreneurship. After finishing my degree, I worked in consulting for a few years, but my entrepreneurial spirit remained alive. On weekends, I helped my husband and his family in accounting and administration in a voluntary capacity, and the sector's dynamism hooked me. Years later, I partnered with my husband to create Nordlogway and specialize in warehouse logistics. This allowed us to cover the entire supply chain, especially focusing on specific sectors and regions such as Osona and Vallès.

  1. What have been the main obstacles you have had to overcome as a woman in this sector?

The main obstacle I’ve had to overcome has been a certain level of sexism in the sector, but it was nothing that I couldn’t face with professionalism and determination. Although the percentage has been increasing, by the end of 2024, female participation in the logistics sector was 22.5%. From my position in the company and with the collaboration of the entire team, we are moving toward greater gender balance by incorporating women at all levels and positions in our companies.

  1. What do you think is the key to success in logistics, regardless of gender?

To lead and succeed in logistics, it is necessary to adapt quickly to changes, manage teams flexibly to meet the ever-changing needs of clients. It is a very dynamic sector where organizational skills, along with a commercial strategy focused on specialization and innovation, are the key to success. I would highlight commitment and responsibility toward clients, the internal team, external collaborators, society, and the community as core values.

  1. What advice would you give to other women who want to start a business or work in logistics?

I would tell them that it is a sector with an emerging trajectory full of opportunities to bring in female talent and their conciliatory approach.

  1. What does celebrating International Women's Day mean to you from your position?

International Women’s Day from my position means advocating for the contributions of women to the professional world and society as free individuals with equal opportunities, which were denied to us in previous eras. When I started my higher education studies, the percentage of women was less than 10%. Now it is 50%. This is the path that women from my generation opened, and it is a great satisfaction.
