Nordlogway has been certified as a logistics operator for animal feed

From now on, Nordlogway is authorized to transport, handle and store products for animal feed thanks to its registration in the SANDACH registry. 

What is the SANDACH registry?

The SANDACH registry is a registry by the Autonomous Government of Catalonia which gathers all the operators related to the animal feed sector and the area of animal by-products and derived products not intended for human consumption. 

This includes all the operators of animal feed in its production phase, commercialization, as well as in its collection phase, transport, handling, treatment, transformation, processing, storage, commercialization, distribution and/or use.

In other words: not all logistics operators are authorized for animal feed products transport and storage, as to be entitled to it it is mandatory to register in the SANDACH registry and for that matter follow the necessary regulations. 

What requirements has to meet a logistics operator which handles animal feed products? 

Various regulations of the European Parliament and Council establish some requirements in the hygiene matter to be entitled to handle animal fodder and other feed for animal consumption.

Even those companies which does not take part in production, such as logistics operators, have to maintain their facilities and equipment in optimal hygienic conditions.

For example: containers, crates and vehicles should be maintained clean and kept under pest control programs. 

Moreover, good conditions of storage should be guaranteed, products ought to be handled only by personnel authorized by feed business operator and easily recognizable in order to avoid confusion or cross-contamination.
